Hello, sweet friend. I know that life is chaos. I know you’ve got a million things going on and a million emotions. Or maybe you don’t have anything going on and that’s even scarier for you! But I’m hoping you can sit with me for just a few minutes, because I have something so important to tell you today.

Sweet one, you are so loved! You are loved by One whose love is perfect! I know. You don’t think you’re really loveable. Maybe you messed up big recently. Maybe you just can’t stand the sight of yourself. Maybe someone hurt you and your trust has been broken. There are a million reasons we come up with. But, you know what, they’re our reasons! Maybe they’re our excuses…

And we think we’re the only ones. Do you know what? I don’t have any doubt writing this right now, no insecurity that I’m the only one and that no one else will know what I’m talking about and I’ll just be over here all awkward and stuff. Because, guess what? It’s bigger than me. It’s older than me. This is not a “me” problem. It’s not a “you” problem. It’s an “all of us” problem. I know because I have this old letter, written like 2,000 years ago and the recipient of the letter needed to hear this too, in fact the author of the letter had to learn this too! Seriously, either a lot of us are struggling or I’m super special. 1 John 4:15-16 says, “Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.” Did you catch it? Not only do we need to know the love God has for us, we have to believe it. God’s love out does my being a jerk, my impatience, my mess ups, my epic fails.  Every. Single. Time.

So you’re sitting there, and you’re thinking about how you’ve messed up today. Maybe it was big time. You know what? God loves you. Maybe today has gone pretty well (and I hope it has), but you know what? You need to hear it anyway. God loves you. And maybe you’re somewhere in between, busy, just trying to get through to the next whatever. Stop. Just hear me in this moment. God loves you. He does. Now go back to your really bad, pretty good or just plain busy day and ruminate in that. Let it fill you. Let God fill you.

Realizing your need for God and the enormity of His love for you, can be really overwhelming. If you are in that place right now, can I encourage you to seek God out. Praying doesn't have to be complicated. Just tell God what's on your heart. Trust that He really does love you, that He sent His Son to earth to die for the sins of all mankind, so that we wouldn't suffer an eternal separation from our Heavenly Father. And then get ready to see Him work in your life!
